BlogCamp 08

For anyone who thought blogging and social media was the preserve of Generation X nerds and techies that has no place in the real world, it’s time to think again. Berkeley PR attended an excellent event on Tuesday evening - Travel BlogCamp 08 - that brought together some of the travel industry’s most respected bloggers with around 80 journalists, marketeers, PRs and business owners.
The event looked at the hows and whys of blogging and social media, sought to get to the essence of what makes a good blog and tackled the thorny subject of corporate blogs, offering advice from seasoned social media experts and newcomers alike. The evening had all the ingredients of a good blog (apparently) - original content, strong opinions, a varied perspective and healthy debate. It also had a good choice of real ales - the jury was out on whether blogging and beer should be mixed, but it seemed to work on this occasion.
The technology industry, it seems, could learn a lot from these travel industry pioneers. So, watch this space for a Tech BlogCamp coming to a pub near you soon. Who’s up for it?
